Mr. Yun was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Lao P.D.R until he returned to be appointed as Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs in September 2017.

    Dr. Kim Joo-Hong is a research scientist at the Korea Polar Research Institute (KOPRI), Korea. He has begun his polar research career since he worked at the KOPRI in December 2012. Currently, his research topics include the pole-to-midlatitude weather/climate linkages, the coupled physical processes controlling the Arctic sea ice variability. He previously worked on dynamics and physics in global and tropical climate change at the Seoul Nat’l University (2005-2007), U.K. Met Office Hadley Centre (2008-2010) and National Taiwan University (2010-2012). He received a doctorate in atmospheric sciences at the Seoul Nat’l University, Korea in February 2005.

    Elisabetta Vignati is a physicist by training, with a PhD in Geophysics obtained at Copenhagen University. Through more than 20 years of her carrier in atmospheric science Elisabetta Vignati worked mainly in evaluating the impact of human activities on air quality and climate and is (co-)author of several articles published in peer reviewed journals. She is the Head of Air and Climate Unit of the Directorate for Energy, Transport and Climate of the European Commission Joint Research Centre. Her unit aims to provide integrated analysis in support of EU air quality and climate policies, including the Arctic.

    efore moving to the German Arctic Office in 2017, he served as the Executive Secretary of the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) since 2006. Dr. Rachold graduated as a geochemist from Göttingen University, where he also obtained his Ph.D. in 1994.

Jim is currently working on projects advocating for a reduction in the use of heavy fuel oil in the Arctic, the role of Arctic Council Observers in AC project development, establishing an Indigenous representation at the International Maritime Organization, and how small Arctic coastal communities feel they can best contribute to search & rescue and disaster preparedness.

Since then he worked for 35 years at the institute as a specialist of Atmospheric Science and Polar Climatology. After retiring, he is an Editor-in-Chief for “Polar Science”. He joined the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition 4 times (3 wintering) and served twice as a leader of expedition. He also led the GRENE Arctic Climate Change Research Project (2011-16) as a Project Manager.

    Mr. Piotr Rakowski began his career in public service in 1998. He was involved in the European Union accession negotiations and the EU decision-making process for many years. He was seconded national expert (SNE) at the Secretariat General of the EU in Brussels. He also served abroad in Polish diplomatic missions in Belgium and Ireland. Mr. Rakowski was appointed as senior advisor for Arctic Affairs in September 2017.

Jacob Isbosethsen

    Jacob Isbosethsen has since October 2018 been the Head of the Greenland Representation to Iceland in Reykjavik. The objective of the Representation in Iceland is first of all to enhance Greenlands political, administrative, cultural and commercial relations with Iceland. But it is also likely that it would like to strengthen the relations with the countries already having a diplomatic presence in Reykjavik.

    Prior to his posting in Reykjavik, Isbosethsen has had several senior positions in the Government of Greenland. Including Head of Department in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs since August 2015. From 2017 – 2018, he was also appointed as Acting Deputy-Minister for the Ministry for Independence, Foreign Affairs and Agriculture.

    He started his carrier in 2008 in the Ministry of Fisheries, Hunting and Agriculture and was responsible for legal questions and bilateral fisheries negotiations in the North Atlantic and the EU-Greenland Fisheries Partnership Agreement, and served as secretary for the national fisheries commission.

    Mr. Isbosethsen then joined the Government’s diplomatic service in 2011, and has earlier been posted in the Greenland Representation to the EU in Brussels (2011 – 2013).

    During his entire career, he has served for in the administration in the Government of Greenland.
    Jacob Isbosethsen is a lawyer graduate from the University of Aarhus, and he holds an LLM degree in law, 2008. He was born in Nuuk, Greenland in 1981.

    Shirley Ong joined Global Affairs Canada in 2003. At Headquarters, she was the senior advisor to the assistant deputy minister & CFO, and has held positions in the Southeast Asia, and the International Economic Relations and Summits divisions. Her overseas assignments have included Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and, most recently, in Singapore as the Regional Economic Advisor for Southeast Asia. Currently she is a senior policy advisor in the Nordic & Polar Relations division based at the Canadian International Arctic Centre in Norway. Prior to joining the public service, she worked for Bain & Company in Toronto. She holds a BCom (Finance) from McGill University and an MSc (Economic History) from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

He was seconded national expert (SNE) at the Secretariat General of the EU in Brussels. He also served abroad in Polish diplomatic missions in Belgium and Ireland. Mr. Rakowski was appointed as senior advisor for Arctic Affairs in September 2017.

    Jacob Isbosethsen has since October 2018 been the Head of the Greenland Representation to Iceland in Reykjavik. The objective of the Representation in Iceland is first of all to enhance Greenlands political, administrative, cultural and commercial relations with Iceland. But it is also likely that it would like to strengthen the relations with the countries already having a diplomatic presence in Reykjavik.

    Prior to his posting in Reykjavik, Isbosethsen has had several senior positions in the Government of Greenland. Including Head of Department in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs since August 2015. From 2017 – 2018, he was also appointed as Acting Deputy-Minister for the Ministry for Independence, Foreign Affairs and Agriculture.

    He started his carrier in 2008 in the Ministry of Fisheries, Hunting and Agriculture and was responsible for legal questions and bilateral fisheries negotiations in the North Atlantic and the EU-Greenland Fisheries Partnership Agreement, and served as secretary for the national fisheries commission.

    Mr. Isbosethsen then joined the Government’s diplomatic service in 2011, and has earlier been posted in the Greenland Representation to the EU in Brussels (2011 – 2013).

    During his entire career, he has served for in the administration in the Government of Greenland.
    Jacob Isbosethsen is a lawyer graduate from the University of Aarhus, and he holds an LLM degree in law, 2008. He was born in Nuuk, Greenland in 1981.

    Shirley Ong joined Global Affairs Canada in 2003. At Headquarters, she was the senior advisor to the assistant deputy minister & CFO, and has held positions in the Southeast Asia, and the International Economic Relations and Summits divisions. Her overseas assignments have included Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and, most recently, in Singapore as the Regional Economic Advisor for Southeast Asia. Currently she is a senior policy advisor in the Nordic & Polar Relations division based at the Canadian International Arctic Centre in Norway. Prior to joining the public service, she worked for Bain & Company in Toronto. She holds a BCom (Finance) from McGill University and an MSc (Economic History) from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
